A great evening with our friends playing Mah jong. Have you ever played? Its a Chinese game played with 'Tiles' which are blocks made, in my case, of teak wood but normally with bamboo and bone or now with plastic. Its rather like playing cards but with tiles. Our friends were new to the game so it was fun teaching them to say 'Chow' or 'Pung' or 'Kung' when completing a set, and Mah jong when winning. Why not have a go yourself.
Our evening included a dinner of Rochefort chessecake with pear and vinigrette dressing as the starter with a Rully AOC red Pinot Noir just big enough to take the tartness. Main course was a chilli with rice and salsa. With this we followed the theme of Burgundy with a Mercurey AOC again just powerful enough. Cheese was followed by a panacotta with blackcurrant coulee from the potager last year. Yummy. With this we had our favourite sweet wine a Methode Ancestrale sparkling rosé. Very peachy and intense to counter the blackcurrant.
What a lovely evening.
