loirewinetoursblog –, loire, france

A well earned lunch with the winemaker and his wife after a hectic morning in the classroom with some education followed by a visit to the vineyard to inspect the Chenin blanc, Cabernet France and Chardonnay grapes. We tasted the berries of each variety. The Cabernet France needs a good four weeks before harvest, the chenin  three weeks and the chardonnay for the methode ancestrale sparkling about two weeks. Its currently around 11% potential alcohol. Five courses of a traditional french lunch with a wine per course presented by the winemaker. What better way to taste the wine as presented by the winemaker and drunk with food prepared by his wife. Simple and unique. A very personal experience.
